mvToolox works very well and is written in basic and can be enhanced.
We have a team of 6 programmers here in Ohio and we work with it every
day.
We have it too, but don't use it. Bro spent time doing some wonderful
demos for us, but the product is really overwhelming in its scope. It
just seemed like too much to learn. The manual, though extensive, was
terrible to work with.

I think he would have done better releasing a series of utilities
instead of such an all-encompassing product.

I like the idea of "progressive unfolding". Many years ago when I
released the last version of my programmer's stacker, I embedded a
tutorial directly in the code that would walk new users through the
most useful features. I of course, have no idea how many people
actually downloaded the code as I didn't setup a nifty "Buy this code
for a penny" button to track it. I was'nt nearly as clever back then
as I am today, and Google Checkout didn't exist, but anywho....

Herb I have tried to get Dan to update that web page for years. It's
a mess Java java java java (shut up!!) and weird tiny fonts and so
on. If they took over Dave's routines, it's news to me. Too bad he
didn't just expose them all on the net when he retired.

I almost left that mvToolbox page because the first PowerPoint
presentation fails when a message that it's corrupt or not a
powerpoint file at all. The Technical one however opened on my system
so I could see the main features. I think he spends way too much time
discussing the list processing features which seem um.... not that
useful personally. I would have focused on the editing and the diff
screen parts more. Those are universally required.

Bro is still updating mvToolbox all the time...
There is even change control built into it now.
Remember that the problem isn't too little, but too much.
It needs to be more approachable or more features won't help anyone
outside of the existing user base.

Best,

To anyone who would like a copy of mvToolbox:

Since my website is essentialy a graveyard, if you would send me this
information, I will burn you an install disc and send it to you. If
you have access to an FTP site, that would work also.

To anyone who has requested a free copy of the mvToolbox, I have
worked out some kinks in the installation process that were introduced
by my removal of anti-pirating code. I had to remove it for a couple
of reasons. #1 My ISP was bought out and the new ISP does not support
Unidata, which is what my websites were written in. Consequently I
could no longer activate installations. #2 I am giving it away so why
try to protect against unlawful replication. In any case my efforts
introduced some problems in installing the site license and then in
starting the mvToolbox up.

The good news is that much to my surprise, this offer has generated a
bunch of interest. That motivated me to address the problems. If I
wasn't distributinh it, there was no pressing need. I also have
worked out several issues with the new ISP. My pages are still dead,
but I can now upload an install package to my website, and you could
download your individualized install package directly from www.DMCons.com.
Still the website is without any guts, but I've asked them for
permission to install QM on their server. With that I can get back up
and running. Whew!

So if anyone has requested an install, and have had problems with the
install, I will be putting your new install package up on my website
by the end of the weekend, and I will be sending each of you an
individual link to download it to your PC.

Please, if anyone has any problems, I do want to give you support -
all free of course.

Further, those who have the mvToolbox, if you have questions about
using it, post them here or on the mvToolbox discussion group (http://
groups.google.com/group/mvtoolbox?hl=en), and I will answer them. I
am also going to be making videos to answer questions and explain how
to use the toolbox. Those will be posted on my being-rejuvenated
website. So ask away.
