Default jBase + Java oBjex - 11-15-2005 , 09:28 AM

I'm looking to build an application using jBase and Java. I understand that
an RMI server is necessary running on the jBase server. I have no experience
with Java oBjex, but do with Java and jBase. If anyone has any example code
or advice/experience please let me know.

I did some playing with jBASE and JavaOBjEX some time ago and I don't
remember any RMI server requirements. I just used the standard edition
Java SDK and added the JavaObjex jar to my projects.

This was done on Windows. jBASE recognized all environment settings
for file paths, etc. It worked really well.

I suppose if you wanted true remoting, instead of directly working with
files over the LAN, you could use RMI.

Sorry, I'm not a Java guru by any stretch. Maybe Luke Webber will
chime in.

David,

You might be better servered if you post this to the jBASE forum
instead. The address is:

Ah, thank you both for your help. I will look into google groups, I had no
idea that was there. I was under the impression that you needed RMI to
access a jBase file on a linux jBase server from a Java GUI application
running on a Windows client.

Thanks again!
