Default If you pay peanuts you get monkeys - 03-23-2005 , 02:47 PM

Hi group,

I just found this ad

Industry: IT
Type: Permanent
Position: Senior Analyst/Consultant
Skills: This large systems house is looking for someone who has
excellent client facing skills along with a good solid background in
developing/supporting business systems on Pick (Universe/ Unidata)
platforms. Good career progression. Interesting and varied projects
(configuration/ Implementation). An element of the role will be based
on customer sites so you will be expected to travel and stay away as
required. You should also be conversant with programming although this
is only a small percentage of...
Location: Sheffield, South Yorkshire
Start Date: ASAP
Rate: Up To 25k

Talking about cheap and fast ;-)

At least it is pounds not dollars. With the dollar as low as it is,
maybe we can pick up some "outsourcing" work from the Euro zone

With that location, wouldn't that 25K figure be UK Pounds?

That would be ~ $46,722.50 (US) according to Yahoo finance at the time
of this posting.

Still, $46,722.50 (US) sounds awfully low for a Senior Analyst - maybe
1/2 or even 1/3 of what it should be, depending on the duties and
expectations. And note, they did say "up to" meaning they are probably
hoping to get the slave for even less money! So sad!

Keep in mind, you have to live in the UK and pay your bills and shopping
in UK Pounds too.
And even though the US Dollar is gone down against the Pound, the prices
in the UK haven't.

Yes, good points. I didn't consider that. Back to the monkey house
for me now.

There's a big multi value house in Sheffield called EDP www.edp.co.uk
Looks as if it could be them.

More likely to be Sandersons with the requirement for Unidata/Universe
experience. They are what I would class as a 'big' software house.

EDP are Univision only (with a smattering of D3 customers resisting
the change).
