Default Having trouble downloading C27.exe from RD - 10-30-2003 , 10:06 AM

I am experiencing trouble un-packing the RD C27.exe - downloaded at
least 3 times.. and to two seperate machines..

Each time, on executing the self extracting archive, CRC errors are
being reported. On the first couple of occasions I was content to
believe it was a data transfer problem - but ....

On checking the CRC errors from the 2nd attempt against that of the
third they were all in the same files.. So my thought is that the
archive is probably damaged at the RD end.

I have reported the problem to RD support in the UK... but....

Just as a sanity check, if someone decides to take some RnR from the
relational/pick battle front-line - would you mind downloading C27.exe
from the D3ODBC patch site and see whether you can get it to extract
and install properly ? If you experience similar problems - please
get in touch, because then I will feel justified in hassling RDUK
support a little bit.

TIA

Godric

ftp://ftp.rainingdata.com/pub/ODBC/2.0.x/Patches/ is empty,
ftp://ftp.rainingdata.com/pub/ODCB/2...leases/C27.exe
is listed onsite as 3,208,704 byes Oct 3 2002
After {binary mode} download shows as 3,134KB in Windows Explorer.
Right-click Properties shows size as 3.05MB (3,208,704 bytes), 3,211,264
bytes used. Execution at a command prompt window shows normal
completion, with '67 file(s) unzipped successfully' message at the end.
I didn't run setup.exe as your results already differ markedly from mine.

I'm guessing you used windows telnet at the command prompt and
forgot to issue the BIN command at the ftp> prompt before doing
your GET command. Windows ftp seems to default to ascii mode
transfers, not binary. That ftp site is ip address 64.165.251.134
