Default GE Pick does anyone know how to export everything? - 02-19-2007 , 12:17 PM

Hi there,

We have a General Automation Pick system that was recently superceded
by a new system. The older system has been inactive for record
additions for over a year but we find that due to legal reasons
(access to information requirements) that we need to extract data from
our old Pick system.
I would like to export all of the data on this system to a windows
based system for a variety of reasons:
1) We are not sure if the GA backups are working
2) It is very difficult to find parts for this system and we need the
data in a not so proprietary format

I have done a little research on the product and know a little more
history and have reviewed the manual we have o nthe product. The
manual suggests that exporting the data is relatively simple. Does
anybody have any experience in extracting these records in such a way
that the data would still be accessible? Thanks in advance.

Stan

Hello Stan,
I am not an expert but I think I can safely say the following.
1. Extracting the data will not affect your current GA files.
2. If you are using a terminal emulation program such as Viaduct or
Accuterm, they both have facilities to import the data to the PC they
are running on as CSV files or Excel files are some other choices.

You might also want to buy 1 or 2 licence's of the new program (I
believe it might be MVBase or MVEnterprise) depending on the operating
system but I may be wrong. I'm sure there are more qualified readers
who can steer you correctly.
