Default Fedora and D3 - 06-12-2005 , 02:43 PM

Can anyone tell me definitively which Fedora core will work with D3 7.4.2?
I tried cores 2 and 3 and both crash with a segmentation fault at line 401
of D3_setup while running ./instal_pick $LIBDIR $FSIINST
Thanks.

I have D3 7.4.0 running on FC2, but we could not get FC3 to work with
either 7.4.0 or 7.4.2 (see thread in RD D3/Linux forum).

I did read your thread. Did you get a segmentation fault when you installed
it? I get segmentation fault when it runs ./instal_pick. But if I cd to /
and run /usr/lib/pick/instal_pick /usr/lib/pick, it'll get to the install
menu and then crash later.
This happens on both FC3 and FC2. Finally I settled on RH9 with 7.4.2 which
is not supposed to work either but it loaded without a problem.
If you could let me know if you got the same error on FC2 and if so, how you
worked around it, I'd appreciate it. Thanks.

This is the sort of thing I tend to expunge from memory very quickly,
but iirc we had the activation error problem with FC3 and 7.4.0 and
7.4.2, but did not try 7.4.2 on FC2. I do have a few sites running 7.4.0
on RH9 with no problems though, but none using 7.4.2 on RH9.

7.4.2 is for RHE only - 7.4.0 is for the RH9 platform.

Personally, I LIKE the idea of being able to call for help when needed,
so I wouldn't bother wasting time tinkering with an unsupported
platform, and especially one as potentially volatile as Fedora (which
is why RD probably don't support it)
