Default Double bytes support (Chinese, Japanese, etc) - 04-10-2006 , 06:22 PM

Hi,

I had posted the same question many times before but couldn't find any
solution at that moment.

If you had had the same problem like me, you may take a look at BRIZ
which it has done a very nice remap function. Yes, you can key in
Double Byes chars in TCL or use any Windows product as your Frontend
(e.g. Visual Basic & Delphi) via BRIZ as the
Middleware (COM Server concept).

If you want to know more about BRIZ, you can join their newsgroup for
further discussion

http://groups.google.com/group/BRIZ/ OR download the copy from
www.infotools.ru

^_^

my 2 cents...

I didn't see the OP for this question but FYI, this question has been
answered a few times in this forum. Google the forum for BIG5,
chinese, and/or japanese and you'll see solutions.

Hi Tony,

Yes, it was answered quite a no. of times but it is not as complete as
what BRIZ provided.

e.g. Double bytes Backspace or how the data d/l back to PC.

On top of that, you can immediately create the VB Frontend with double
byte awared (do I miss any post talking about this?)

BTW, as you know... I am not working with INFOTOOLS.

just want to share something with the people in CDP.. ^_^

Rgds,

FYI, you can do the same thing with Visage over D3 (and/or "cheat" and
use NLS in UV :-)

One of these days I "must" take then time to investigate the "chinese"
entries in DM ... looks like RD have done "something", but obviously
not enough to document. They also used to have some Russian stuff as
well, but I think this may have fallen into disrepair

Just to make sure that the MV market realizes that there are tools out
there to support Double Byte applications, DesignBais provides this
ability and has a live site running in Chinese (out of Hong Kong). In
addition to this, DesignBais provides a "Glossary" which is a mapping
tool that allows a per user mapping from one language to another at run
time.

Well there you go - I thought you only supported this via NLS on
platforms like Universe, rather than natively on platforms like D3 that
don't support NLS functionality
