Default Document scanning & D3 - 10-09-2003 , 06:53 AM

Hi All

I am looking for a system / device that can scan a document
(a ratings document) & then write the results (name address etc
rating of service , check in good etc etc) to a pick file.

Does anything like exist.

Many Thanks

Check out http://www.1mage.com, I think that can do some of what you are
looking for, and maybe all of it.

I posted a commandline utility (VB 4.0 Project) on PickSource a while
back. It automates TWAIN scanning using the Kodak/Wang imaging control
provided with Windows. You can use a DOS command line call from a
terminal emulator, to scan the image onto a PC. All you need to do, is
write a pickbasic program to launch the command and record the
key/barcode entered data, as well as the document's path and filename.

There used to be a device called an Optical Mark Reader. This produces a PC
text file which you then make into a D3 file and write a program to import
into the database. Perhaps there are other devices which do something
similar
