Whilst it is true that 1 in 10 people understand binary, I was equally
sure that someone would have registered that 100(base2) = 4, rather
than the 8 that I stated as a "fact". It would appear that when
dealing with numbers, most people work with "approximations" - my
"fact" looked "about right", and so was accepted on face value
... yet I'm sure you picked up the spelling mistakes 2 paragraphs
above!

In response to a PHP question in this group, I made a mathematical error
in my response...I neglected to bring two date systems to a common point
in time before doing the math! The poster of the question caught that
(without really understanding the "why") and was able to complete his
script.

Just 'cuz it looks good...

*grin*

BTW, I caught your "error". I just never made a comment. Yes, I
know...most of the time I am trivial but even I have some standards!
*snort*

off')

Did you stop to consider that perhaps we all spotted the error, but were
too polite to pick you up on it? It's a very polite group, in general. <g>

Error Luke? I think not. I figured if Ross said it, they must have
changed the math. I believe everything *he* posts on the net.

Patrick, <;=)

P.S. Did you consider this possibility? Even if *they* have not
finalized it yet, I'm sure it's coming.

Hi Dawn
With a name like Pascal ( a long dead language - watch for flames now) I
wonder that he has the gall to publish anything. I know one thing, he would
not last two minutes on a genuine user site where clairvoyance and the
ability to produce everything yesterday are the major requirements. (yes I
am reading Harry Potter)
Personally I find you a breath of fresh air, like others I have only one
complaint - my time reading this site and mewsings is costing me a fortune.
Keep it up

A whole page dedicated to me. I'm so proud. smiles. --dawn

Congratulations, Dawn. You obviously have far more patience than I (and
most of us here) do.

It is difficult to argue with someone who repeatedly asserts that he is
correct and that you simply do not understand his arguments. It really
seems like dbdebunk works on semantic obfuscation rather than fully and
fairly debating the issues.

You are doing us all proud!

Thanks, Brian. I can sound like Pascal's comments don't bother me and
part of me can wear it as a badge of honor, but of course it isn't nice
to be called ignorant and stupid and does make me question myself. So
your affirming words are very much appreciated.

Cheers! --dawn

Whenever I'm unsure of someone, I always look to the enemies they've
made. Your stock is rising fast girl. Keep up the good work.

Patrick, <;=)

P.S. I wish I had infuriate the Pompous Arrogant A** to that extent.

And speaking of Pascal .... and on a different Mewsing, I wonder who
(if anyone) will pick up Delphi, heir to the throne of Pascal, and the
other IDE business from Borland (it is ALL for sale - I think that is
public knowldege, isn't it?)

Just a matter of time. The writing has been on the wall for years.
Unfortunately, the death throes have lasted too long, and things have
moved along apace. Delphi has too many worthy competitors, and as much
as I once loved it, time has not been kind to it, IMO. If it were to end
up in FOSS hands, it might have a future, but I'm not sanguine.
