Default DesignBais for OpenQM - Will we ever see it? - 01-10-2007 , 09:38 PM

Since July of 2006, I've been told that DesignBais (4.1) with support
for OpenQM will be ready:

- in about a week
- in a couple of days
- within days
- shouldn't be long now
- gonna have a copy this weekend
- soon

And lots of other non-specific time-frames with lots of non-specific
explanations for delays.

I've posted messages to forums or have been in direct e-mail contact
with DesignBais salesreps, developers, and distributors. Now, after
about 5.5 months of empty promises, I hear nothing from any of these
people, as forum posts and e-mails go unanswered.

It scares me to think what the support from DesignBais, Inc is like.
Can anyone comment?

Even if DB with support for OpenQM comes out "soon", the inability of
DB Inc to even be remotely accurate with its release date estimates
leads me to wonder about their technical competency.

I really don't think I'm being unfair by asking for an explanation and
an accurate delivery schedule.

Regards,

Kevin, I can assuage your concerns about DB's support and their technical
competency.

We work with them closely on a regular basis and have always found them very
accommodating, concerned and responsive.

We are using D3 for now.

I dont think their technical competency is related to something which
is more of a project management and marketing issue. I do agree to some
extent in that they are not good at giving dates for releases of
product. I do like to see some form of roadmap with dates for release
over the next 12-18 months. However I certainly dont think their
technical competency is ever in doubt, Designbais is an excellent and
robust product.

I have logged a number of support requests with Designbais and they
have always been prompt and helpfull in their replies. So i dont think
you have anything to worry about really.

Kevin,

QM is almost ready. At this point we have one issue that needs to get
resolved by QM. As soon as this is resolved I will pack the release and
post it on the web site. This is the best I can tell you.
