(Footnote: based on feedback from Symeon, we are extending our existing
remote monitoring facilities so that if people DO disable interactive
debugging for a [production] environment they can still have an
automatic email sent to a designated [support] email address with
details of the problem. [Could actually provide interactive debugging
via Email now that I think of it, but for once even I think that this
would be "too much" {unless someone wants it, in which case it can
be delivered about a week after your order}]. This will be a standard
feature of our 7.13 release next month. Keep those good ideas, or at
least the basis of them, coming in :-)

Just an update - this facility is now in place (email notification only
- NOT the debugging via emails!), and has been deployed to some beta
test sites who, as expected, LOVE IT! This is a nice adjunct to our
remote monitoring capabilities, which have historically enabled VAR's
with Visage applications deployed to become aware of "problems" before
their clients have (nothing like being pro-active!)

Thanks for the germ of a nice addition Symeon!

The debugging by email still makes me chuckle ...

.... and yet, because we "own" the comms stack, it WOULD be possible
(the notion of debugging on hols from a Blackberry, or via a satPhone
DOES have a certain appeal :-)

That would have to be the "Classic for the Week", and I've seen some
*really* stupid things this week........As me poor ol' mum used to
say, "Say nothing and let everybody think you're an idiot. Say
something, and remove all doubt!"

Since when has hat size been in inches?????

Hat size of 7 5/8 would be very similar in size to a bath tub turned
upside down and large enough for the biggest of the boofheads to the
east of the North Pacific Ocean, generally below Canada and above
Mexico......

John doesn't realise that hat sizes are measure by radius, not
circumference. Personally, I take a 59, or an American 7.25". ;^)

I don't think you guys have this right. In the U.S. an average sized mens
hat is 7 1/8. The size is an inches measure of diameter.

You know at the beginning of this thread I was so proud. I told my Mom
that I had a CDP thread named after me; she called the local paper and
they ran a piece on "local boy makes good" and everything was great.

Now - 97 postings later we are talking about hat sizes.

Fame is indeed a fleeting thing :-)

Wait, wait -- you didn't give us your hat size, Dave.

So, how is life in the 1NF world? cheers! --dawn
