Default Data transfer from Advanced Pick - 07-10-2006 , 02:21 PM

I have a request from a new customer to get data out of AP/SCO as they
are changing business systems.

What recommendatiosn are there for a suitable terminal emulation/data
transfer suite please.

The customer does not already have this as they use green screen
terminals and on their few PC's they use hyperterminal.

Thank you for all your help.

Accuterm works well if you can live with downloading one file at a time.
I liked PC Harmony from Synex more, but they seem to have dropped off
the face of the earth. If anyone knows where I could buy PC Harmony for
Windows, let me know.

AccuTerm is the generally preferred solution for something like this.
Someone without MV skills will have a problem figuring out how to do
this. If you know exactly what data you need it would help, that way
you don't extract gigabytes of junk.

If you'd like to setup some regular interface between the AP/SCO box
and another application then custom code is possible. This could, for
example, allow Great Plains or SAP or Oracle Financials to extract
data from the AP app as required. I'm guessing you wouldn't be
interested in this but you may not be aware of your options.

Hello Peter,

BRIZ have BCPxxx tcl commands. In addition, BCPxxx can copy items
from/to D3 using DICT conversions, reordering, CSV ....
http://infotools.ru/freeware/briz/BCP/index.htm
BCPxxx using GP.Filexxx subroutines
Latest test result: 10GB file to D3 - 4hr. 10GB file to PC - 50min.

In addition, You can put data directly to the other DB using DAO and
ODBC from PickBasic.

Regards,
Grigory
