Default Data Replication in UniData 6 - 10-02-2003 , 02:58 PM

Has anyone tried UniData Data Replication, with or without
the Recoverable File System (RFS)? Data Replication is
new in UniData Version 6.0 and has been available in
UniVerse since about Version 9.4.

Natasha,

You may have "better" responses if you subscribe to the U2-Users list
specifically,

Egads,

I think this California Recall is getting to me!

I read the subject as Data Republican in UniData 6
and wondered what it was.

I guess the eyes aren't what they used to be. 8>)

Seems to fit right in with Thomas Jefferson, JFK, Clinton.

I like Leno's line last night. "6 women in 30 years!? That's a Thursday
afternoon for Clinton!"

Now JFK was NOT a groper. (At least not without permission).

P.S Bad Patrick, (smack hand, smack hand)

Firstly I'd go with Don's suggestion. Anything regarding aspects of UniData
or UniVerse which aren't straight PICK compatibility features is far better
addressed to the U2 specific mailing list u2-users-subscribe (AT) oliver (DOT) com .
IIRC there was someone on that list looking closely at UD 6 replication
about a year ago - when 6 first came out. Personally, I have a copy of the
doco, but haven't used it.

It appears from all the discussions I've seen that UD replication is
*completely* different to UV replication though. This is certainly a good
thing because UV replication is not practically useful as far as I can
tell - no file level operations get replicated, performance is poor, etc.

Cheers,

Ken

Without having tried it, I would assume that Data Replication in
UniData is similar to UniVerse's. It's created and supported by the
same U2 group at IBM, plus, descriptions of Data Replication in online
manuals sound quite similar. UniData 6 Data Replication does not
support file level operations either.
