Default d3nt sel-restore of users from a guest file-save tape - 05-16-2010 , 02:01 AM

I was handed a full file-save tape generated on a client's d3/nt box,
and asked to make sure it was a good backup.

I am on an older release where I'm doing this,
but was able to show a list of accounts on the tape,
and restore their main application account to this fsi,
also I can accont-restore dm.joebob
from accountname-on-tape dm

but when I actually want a listc of their users file
which lives in fsi:dm,users,
I'm unable to either sel-restore it
or account-restore fsidm.joebob
from accountname-on-tape fsidm
{also tried from fsi:dm accountname}

Is it just me, or is this just one hard-to-get-to file?

If I was on the same release of d3 as them,
I'd just do a backup
and then do a full restore of their tape to get to this file...

Details: sel-restore fails to find the file on tape,
account-restore from fsidm on tape creates the account on disk
but aborts with
1 > fsidm.joebob 0,7
[991] 'fsiM' EXISTS ON FILE.

everything but flashconnect seems to be enabled, by the way.

Try a backup first of course then a restore with the (O option for
overwrite. That might overcome the "exists on file" message. But I haven't
used D3 for years so I may be all wet.

Are you sure that the DM,USERS file wasn't "dx"ed?

And, "no" the USERS file isn't noramlly difficult to access. It's just
another file. (Unlike file-of-files)
