Default D3 and RHEL4 x86_64 - 11-08-2005 , 06:55 PM

I have a support call open with RD (waiting for their call back) but I
was wondering if someone could quickly answer the following:

When trying to install D3, I get the following error:

Start Monitor link:
/usr/bin/ld: skipping incompatible ./libCPm.a when searching for -lCPm
/usr/bin/ld: cannot find -lCPm
collect2: ld returned 1 exit status

I am trying to install this on a x86_64 (64bit Intel) version of RHEL4
using the SMP kernel (2.6.9-22.0.1.ELsmp).

Does D3 work on the x86_64 version of RHEL or do I need to fall back to
the i386 version ?

Is the SMP kernel supported ?

We are running this on single processor Xeon (that support 64bit
extensions).

Matt

I just went through this myself. RD does not support 64bit Linux
(yet).

No idea about your monitor issue, sorry.

I dunno about 64 bit but there is a problem in the current 7.4.x
releases of D3 Linux over SMP where tandem onto another port can
result in a sort of feedback loop between the input and output buffers
if you need to reset or logoff either port. This is a high priority
action item and patches have been issued but I don't think it's been
confirmed that the patches work. As I understand it, the source of
the problem is in erroneous signals from the Linux kernel and not in
D3 itself. (Any success stories out there?) While this issue itself
does not touch the file system in any way, I have found that it can
lead indirectly to data corruption, so I've requested that it be
flagged as critical.

As long as you stay away from tandem or maybe turn off SMP, I'm not
aware of any other major issues.
