Default D3/NT 7.5 SP 1 - 09-09-2006 , 12:29 AM

For those who may not be aware, service pack 1 is now available -
haven't had a chance to see what is fixed yet

Hi Frosty
Be fair they are trying hard this time. I have just received the Raining
Data newsletter so contact is improving. I believe that this is the first
one ever.

In recent years I've found RD to be quite responsive --> not to the
"overnight" levels apparently enjoyed by QM, but on the whole "not too
bad"

Whilst you could argue that issuing a patch in less than a month and a
half since the product was released is "bad", there are other products
out there with issues (including Excel from Microsoft) where patches
simply are not forthcoming.

So, I'll go back to my tin of coke (which is half full), happy in the
knowledge that RD ARE being responsive, and ponder why the issues that
have surfaced since the product was released weren't picked up on by
RD or the Beta Testers

Let's put this one to a vote on PickSource and send the results to RD.

Would a "faceless vote", from people who may not be actively involved
with D3 have an impact?

I would suggest that if you think RD are doing a good job, let them
know --> chances are their tech guys could do with a pat on the back.

If you think RD aren't doing a good job, let them know WHAT YOU WOULD
SUGGEST THEY COULD DO BETTER, and don't be afraid to tell them HOW (and
WHY). If the reports from people like TonyG are accurate, then the
"movers and shakers" need to be woken up - and facts speak louder than
opinion.

There is always room for improvement, and as has been said in a number
of threads recently, unless you let your vendors know they have
problems, then don't be surprised when they don't get fixed .... but if
you do share your thoughts, raise valid points (and also enlist others
to your cause to mexpress the same concerns), and still nothing
happens, then that is a whole other ballgame

Let me be perfectly clear. We have spoken with the movers and shakers for
many years and have generally found that our comments and suggestions were
unwelcome.

We have encountered mostly arrogance and defensiveness. We rarely call
anymore because it is usually a frustrating waste of time and find these
forums much more helpful.

I would be curious to see a survey of people's opinions and see if ours is
in the minority.

Ah! But if we could've got him to join the Ten-Pound-Pom exodus,
it'd be "same day service" - something my dry cleaner has a lot of

I find that you can accomplish a lot more with a kind word and a 2-by-4 than
with a kind word alone.
