Default D3/mvBase end-user support providers? - 06-20-2011 , 04:49 PM

I have been working with a couple mvBase sites recently, and of course
I work with a lot of D3 sites. I write communications software and
other interfaces for mvBase, but I do not officially provide mvBase
DBMS maintenance services. For D3 I prefer to keep DBMS
administration completely separate from my other work, so I leave such
matters to official VARs.

With that in mind, I'd like to know who is providing such services for
both D3 and mvBase, without application-related services. I know many
of you but I'm not sure who is taking new business these days,
especially orphans like this. I will be happy to refer my clients to
qualified service providers whenever possible. Location is not
important to me, though support providers who are local to the
end-users will be recommended wherever possible.

Examples of occasional services include telnet/port reconfiguration,
workstation/server config issues, and questions about backup or
spooler. Sites I work with are now upgrading to D3v9 and mvBase v3,
and want to use the new MVSP connectivity (have you seen my blog on
that?). Once in a while an orphan site will need services for a
couple hours or weeks, or they may need to establish a relationship
for long term services with someone who can work with TigerLogic.

No one is an expert on everything. Please email info about what you
support and what you do not. I avoid peripheral devices like the
plague, for example, and saying that up front lets everyone know where
I stand. I'd appreciate the same candor from anyone responding.

Kind regards,
T
