Default d3 Linux, naggiing problem - 07-12-2005 , 02:40 PM

For some reason a d3 linux server i work on times out over telnet after about 5 minutes and i have to go through keyboard acrobatics to re-obtain the seat. Does anyone know what kind of setting I need to do to inhibit this?

Run "timeout" at tcl. This will tell you if there is a timeout set. 0
(zero) means no timeout.

Thanks, timeout is set to 0. Could it be a linux thing?

You don't mention the telnet client you are using, but if it isn't
Accuterm, it should be, because in connection>advanced you can check the
"send keepalives" box to fix this problem. I also check the "disable
outbound coalescing" which seems to make the session a little less
"rubber-bandy."

It's probably a windows thing, i.e., your client, not your server.
