Default Credit Card Processing software - 02-08-2006 , 01:22 PM

For D3 Windows and D3 Linux.

What is available and which is the best?

The only two I am aware of are TotalLink and Nebula-Pay.

Thanks to all,

Steve

Try the Drexel Mgt software, it works very well (I know, I wrote part
of it).

I'm sorry, I failed to point out that this only applies to software
developers. We don't actually have stand-alone end user software. We
provide Windows-based credit card processing services to be integrated into
existing or developing character or GUI based software.

Out of interest, does this software only work in the US or will it work in
the UK too?

I don't know much about the concepts of processing credit cards (ie merchant
services agreements etc) but I do have an EPOS (Electronic Point of Till)
application that currently doesn't have any integration with taking credit
cards - they use the manual "swipe" machines for the task. Bear in mind
that the UK is now "chip and pin" (ie we use the smartcards not magnetic
these days).

What do I need to do? Is there a shrink-wrapped product I can use ? Mark?
Tony?

I don't really fancy writing anything myself, so a nice dll on the windows
side to interface with the card reader and some back-end "pick" code to
actually do the transaction. We are on jBase 3.4 on the server are use
vb.net on the client side....

Anybody? Feel free to contact me off group at simon at
removethisjunkdmservices dot co dot uk.

Regards
Simon

I'm forging relationships with other companies at the moment to extend
NebulaPay:
- international merchants and consumers
- wide variety of acquirers / processing companies
- alternative non-commission models for use of the software
- support for many more MV platforms
- .NET code base

It's taking time to get there just because I have other projects going
on, but I think this is going in a good direction. Simon, I'll send
you the NebulaPay Developer's Guide if you're interested. The API
will be enhanced to support all the new features but the basic model
will stay the same - you will still be able to drive all transactions
from your MV app code with no need to get into the mess of handling
communications, re-tries, duplicate overrides, and all the other
things I handle internally.

For anyone contemplating card processing, the most important thing to
understand is that every company you do business with has a different
API to communicate with them. This can be an immense pain if you want
to change providers or add new ones to support some new feature like
debit cards, gift cards, EBT, check authorizations, etc. With
NebulaPay you don't need to make code changes to accommodate new
providers outside of whatever your own app requires.

I have worked with a number of ones in the UK - usually they have an
API that you can connect to, most recent was one from Pharos, the API
was socket based you you just connect to the Pharos gateway, send the
message string and get a response. Also used Bibit and connected in a
similar manner to its web services.

Call Drexel Management. I have been using their software for well over a
year for both debit and credit cards. Their pinpad interface is nice and
their support is excellent. I currently have ovr a dozen clients on it,
some with multi-stores.

If we had to do it all over again, we would take a serious look at Tony's
software.

We converted all of our customer from VisaLink to TotaLink a few years ago
after VisaLink went belly up. We are pleased with the ease of integration
with TotaLink, the speed of processing, the reporting, etc. You simply plug
their subroutines into your POS programs. Your program formats some
information into a specified format, calls their subroutine, and receives
the results.
