Ahem - so about Agent - it's seriously not bad bud, less than a minute
and you're running with a completely different server. I won't defend
it entirely, I was upset about this at first too, but there is no pain
to get what I want. <snip> So having a separate
data area and config INI, really does work out well for practical use. |
I'm using it like that. In fact, I have two setups for the same server. One is
subscribed to work newsgroups (CDP for example), and the other to personal ones
like rec.games.pinball.
I agree that it would be nice if Agent handled multiple servers internally. I'd
like to be able to categorize & nest groups also. I'm certainly not looking for
another newsreader because I've got to make two folders though.
Agent was created at a time when it's users could reasonably be expected to
know how to create a folder and copy files. That really is basic computer
literacy. I suspect most usenet users have far more computer proficiency than
that. How many folks who know how to use and acquire more than one usenet
server account also can't copy some files into a folder by following Forte's
instructions on the Agent website?
I do take your point that Agent isn't 'appliance' simple.
