Default ColdFusion, ODBC, Access, and D3/AIX - help! - 06-09-2004 , 03:34 PM

We have an in-house developer who's using ColdFusion to create a web-like
front-end for supply order entry to a D3/AIX 7.3.x legacy materials
management system. The goal is to create an on-line 'shopping' process
using our intranet.

The developer has been trying to link back to D3/AIX using the C27 ODBC
client. The ODBC Host was activated, seemed to work for awhile, then
apparently stopped. We restart it, works awhile, stops, etc...

Anyone have experiences - good or bad - to share using CF via ODBC to
D3/AIX, or . . is there a better way to do this (FlashConnect? something
else?)

If you have a support contract with Raining Data, they can help. A few of
the support people are very good with ODBC.

Personally I avoid ODBC like the plague, but Mark Brown doesn't seem
to have a problem with it. YMMV

See this link:
http://flashconnect.rainingdata.com/...mos/index.html
I wrote those demos over 5 years ago and they still seem to be the
defacto standard of examples for connectivity with FlashCONNECT. RD
never did get the ColdFusion demos (or a couple others) working on
their public server, but you can see some notes I made there about how
to use CF with FC. All I can tell you is - it works, I did it, enjoy.
