(b) On November 15, 2006, Raining Data Corporation (the "Company")
notified Mark Allen, its Vice President, Product Development and
Customer Service, Pick and Omnis Products, and Mario I. Barrenechea,
its Senior Vice President, Worldwide Sales and Marketing, Pick and
Omnis Products, that their employment with the Company will be
terminated effective November 17, 2006.

Wow,

Good find. Mario has been their rep to the Pick community for years
now.

But, I have no idea what the real story is.

No 30 days notice, or anything!

It seems more than a little coincidental that all this happened the day
after Fiscal Q2 financials were announced, but I've been wrong before.

An old truism, companies don't go out of business because they don't
make a profit, they go out of business because they run out of cash.
By that measure RD will be around for a long time yet.

They try to repeat existing. Catching up always loses. They should

Pick was one of leaders, because it was something new. Now all
differently.

This is the "Australian Curse" - an RD EXEC comes to Australia, and is
then fired 2-3 weeks after their return (Mario was here for
Spectrum!!). Last victims were Rich Laurer & Tim Holland IIRC

On a more serious note, from my somewhat distant viewing spot, this
looks like a significant removal of remaining Pick resources from RD.
I think RD might have had something really good with TigerLogic both
technically and from a standpoint of seeding the market if they had
taken the Pick world with them instead of turning their backs--quite
the missed opportunity from my perspective.

With these two men gone, I suspect that RD is almost completely
irrelevant from the perspective of the MV community at this point, but
I'm curious if current RD customers agree with that assessment.

Mario didn't do any development or support work. And I believe he had
a pretty high salary.

Until they start chopping support and development, I am not going to
panic.
