Oh that is *so wonderful*. Thanks, John!

As usual, humor conceals truth. As another post on this list showed, a
simple Select statement could be expanded to countless lines of weird code
(Tony, this is not a dig).

John:

The version I saw was the zen programmer wrote exactly what the beginning
programmer wrote:

10 PRINT "HELLO WORLD"
20 END

Thus, we have the complete cycle of life for programmers. :-)

I love it! My own strategy isn't there, however. Perhaps we need a
"female manager" or "old developers not currently inclined or in a mode
to do it themselves."

This is sometimes considered a wimpy style. Heigh ho. I often make a
request in the form of a question, respecting the responses of
professionals, such as "What will it take to have a Hello World program
running in PHP?" or

"I noticed that

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of...world_programs

does not include a DataBASIC, aka Pick/BASIC or MV Basic Hello World.
I don't know how easy this page is to change since it isn't something I
have done, but perhaps someone else can get an entry in there for Pick?
