Default automatically sending shipping notifications - 02-18-2006 , 02:29 PM

I'm tyring to figure out if there is any way to save some money by
sending automatic shipping notifications with ups world ship and
Microsoft's great plains. What I need to do is make some kind of csv
file or some an acess database. My system need to be able to have a
cusotm email body with the tracking number and the ups site where they
can track it at. Now I need to get all of my information about the
customer from MS great plains. I believe that you can export some kind
of csv(comma seperated value) file from great plains. Then I would need
to somehow pull the tracking number out of worldship. It seems
complicated but there must be some way that it can be done without
spending about $1500

One of my customers called me last week to ask an accounting question. "What
account should I use to .... ?" My response was that this is a question
best answered by their accountant. The customer's response was, "Well if I
call my accountant he will charge me!"

The UPS Worldship software supports ODBC, a method to link up with your
database. The ability to pull the data into Worldship when entering the
shipment and passing the tracking and other information back to your
database is there. There is a screen to map out the data layouts. In other
words match your data fields to theirs.

Perhaps the UPS tech support team can get with your software support person
and work this out. I would not expect it to be free. Or perhaps you can work
it out yourself.

Good luck.
