Default Anyone heard of these products? - 12-23-2005 , 04:32 PM

I'm trying to identify some products, only to determine if they have
anything to do with the MV market. Not looking for contacts, history,
skills, etc. If you're sure these are, or are not related to MV,
please let me know. If the products are old and dead, it would help
to know that as well. Unfortunately I don't have anything to go on
but the product names. Thanks!

Since 1984 or thereabouts, our commercial application has had the name
Topic" as in "Topic by Talon Computer Services", in one form or
another, "Topic" for the origianl MDD/ R83/ ADDS product, then TopicUV
for the UV version (c 1996) and now, TopicQM for, you guessed it, the
OpenQM version.

These days, TopicQM is the only "protected" name....

Some time ago we became aware of "Topic" software ex-USA but of it I
knows nuffin......

Patrick is probably right on this one.
As I recall (and I could be wrong), pcVerse was "published" by
WordMark International by their (at that time) technical team.
The product was a "spinoff" of UniVerse intended to run on PC's.

Hi Tony,

Comtec was the name of a company that was using the MasterPack ERP
Ware Housing & Distribution system. Written using System Builder,
support contracts, upgrades and sales are available in the UK through
www.mv-soft.co.uk.

Best wishes,

A unique license was necessary for each PC. But it could access/share
network files. Maybe Multiverse was the multi-user version? I'm not
sure Multiverse ever shipped.

I did install Multiverse on a laptop sometime around 1997-98(?), so
the boss could take his programs and information on a trip to Asia.

Preview is the dictionary driven Wintegrate-aware screen product used
in the DataWorks MRP-II system. Preview was an outgrowth of the D/Pro
screen processor, which was itself an outgrowth of the Magic screen
processor developed at Budget Computer Systems around 1980-81.

Trans4m
http://www.u2ug.org/index.php?module...opic&topic=191
This company, now Brain, was based in Grand Rapids and moved to Ann
Arbor after Brain acquired the assets. They were a Pick based
automotive specialist. I believe there is still a development team of
sorts in GR. Brain is mostly a German AS/400 shop.

The Trans4m that is referenced when you google and get infor is the old
Mapics company.

pcVerse by Wordmark was a clone of universe version 7. Spectrum magazine
has a list of multivalue products on the editorial page and I think they
still list pcverse and multiverse. pcVerse was single user and ran on 32
bit windows and OS/2. If you bought OS/2 Warp 4, there was an included
sample applications CD and pcVerse was one of the programs on it.
