Default Amazon EC2 - 09-06-2011 , 05:38 PM

Anyone here running a MV app in Amazon EC2, using Windows or Linux?
I'd like to get some feedback (off-list is fine) on reliability,
pricing, support, security, and technical matters, compared to other
hosted private servers, or even inhouse dedicated servers.

The topology I'm working on now will use Drupal as the consumer-facing
front-end, backed by LAMP. Once logged in, users will request custom
functionality, which will be powered by ASP.NET served off of a
Windows server. That ASP.NET UI will use a MV/Linux system for rules
and data. So we are looking to host both Windows and Linux, with
inter-connectivity between them.

Amazon EC2 is a lead platform choice at the moment because it will
allow us to spin up new instances of each environment to support
increased load. I'm writing the code to accommodate this sort of
dynamic expansion.

Thanks!

Check the offering from RackSpace for something similar. They have a
decent comparison between their offering and EC2. Though I am using
Amazon S3 for some storage projects, I went with RackSpace's cloud
offering for server instances.
