Default [ad] InterSystems Cache 2010.2 Released - 11-01-2010 , 05:07 AM

From InterSI am pleased to announce that Caché 2010.2 and Ensemble
2010.2 are now available as production releases.

Every release from InterSystems brings new innovations - 2010.2
delivers two particularly important new capabilities

- Database Mirroring
- eXTreme for Java

plus dozens of new features and hundreds of enhancements.

Some of the analysts who've reviewed 2010.2 have already published
their opinions: for example
- Bloor Research http://www.businesscomputingworld.co...nd-cache-2010/
- Infostructure http://home.comcast.net/~kernochanw7...og/category/1/
- Database Journal

Terrific! We are planning to upgrade soon.

<a pitch from a user follows>
For those interested in looking at options, you can just download
Cache' and work with it. You get their AJAX tools and all (an
integrated toolset with XML, SQL, and pretty much any other TLA you
are looking for, supporting Java if you really want to, but permitting
web-based and client-server development with MVBASIC on the server-
side with no other middle tier language required). We write with
JavaScript and MVBASIC and that's about it (ok, there is also CMQL,
the standard MV query language, plus SQL, and easy XML specs for
pages). It's great -- no php, perl, python, ruby, java, c, c++, c#, vb
etc. in a middle tier. I LOVE IT!!

If you use wish to use all of the bells and whistles on day one, there
is a learning curve (with plenty of people to help with that), but you
can port your code and then move into other territory at your own
pace. I have been very impressed with how well InterSystems supports
their customers and even their prospective customers who are trying
things out. They are a solid, professional, highly profitable company
with a significant installed base of products-formerly-known-as-mumps
customers and now a growing base of pickies too.

Some folks think that since Cache' is the cadillac in our industry, it
might be too big or too different or too expensive (nope) or for some
reason they don't deserve to use the best product out there, but I
would suggest that from small shops to large, you will be well-served
working with this software and this company, both in the short-term
and for the long haul.

If anyone has any questions for a Cache' user, feel free to give me a
holler. This might sound like a marketing pitch, but I call 'em like I
see 'em. Sorry for the marketing-like exuberance, but I would feel I
was withholding good information if I don't occasionally let folks
know my opinion on this front. I think Cache' is unmatched in the MV
arena. --dawn
