Default Accuterm & chinese (or foreign languages) - 10-06-2006 , 12:37 PM

Hi All,

Can anyone share their experience with displaying chinese or foreign
language characters in Accuterm - either green screen app, or GUI using
their gui-izer.

We have a big globalization/localization project under way - a coming
phase will use UniVerse NLS to display our screens in other languages,
say Chinese for our Singapore sales agents. We are wondering if the
extended character set will cause a problem for Accuterm. Within a
green screen app - you can make a call to Accuterms listbox or msgbox
with some control sequences and present your error message to the user
in an actual windows msgbox.

Accuterm has some really slick stuff, but we're afraid to commit our
development effort to it without knowing it won't crater if we're
passing it Chinese instead of English. Or, maybe the extended
character set in a green screen cell would make unexpected calls to
Accuterm or hang the session - just not sure what to expect ....
understand the concern?

If you post your question on the Accuterm support forum, you might get
a quicker response. Sorry, but I don't know the answer to your
question

Hi Baker,

Accuterm is not supported Chinese at the moment and Peter (Accuterm) is
planned to do it. Ofcoz, you can drop a note to Peter in Accuterm
forum to check for the status.

Btw, you may consider BRIZ as well which they did a nice Chinese
enhancement for the MV database.

You can contact Grigory at gvp (AT) infotools (DOT) ru or drop a message in BRIZ
forum http://groups.google.com/group/BRIZ?lnk=oa

Ofcoz, feel free to contact me if you need more information.

Rgds,

Hi,

UniVerse, NLS, and wIntegrate are the tools you will require.

wIntegrate version 6+ has been update to use the chinese character set
following
R&R's move into the Chinese market. The inclusion of Chinese has gone
through
a cerification process (no easy task as I understand it), and having
seen it in
action, it does work very well.
