Maybe yes, maybe no...

Oracles tend to be a little ambiguous...

VBG. Was that intentional? Or are you always this clever at lunchtime?

Maybe, a paradox of oracles is than they excel in finding the right word or
the perfect word.

A real parent-child problem!

So you could make a spreadsheet workbook with one sheet being the
children, with a unique identifier (presumably their names could change),
and a second sheet being the contact details, sorted (with a macro) by
date.

And you could make a demo database (two tables instead of two sheets),
with a form showing the two sets and how easy it is to maintain the
linkages.

And you could work through how the data would be maintained (pretty much
the same problem for both methods) and how it could be disseminated (to
case workers, supervisors, emergency contacts...) via thick client \ or
web browser \ or PDAs.

And you could explore how to start adding information (contact notes,
case histories...)

If Doug will do the job then I think too a database will be better for his
friend :-))

Actually, I'm not in this business. What my friend uses is entirely up to
him. He'll be getting a pile of xeroxed magazine articles tomorrow. Thank
you (10+ years later), Henrik Bechmann.

Instead of "you", one should have used "one".

Also I forgot to mention - if one knows of a database application that can
handle parent-child relationships, and contact details, one should think
about using it.

Problem is, of course, synchronising multiple users. There are contact
management systems (apart from Act!) that can do this.
