Default Runtime - 02-12-2006 , 05:43 PM

I have read a number of times here about Paradox runtime, but haven't
paid much attention to the topic, since my only client has full
Paradox installed.

For the first time I have a form that I'd like to make available to
someone who doesn't have Paradox installed. Is runtime somehow
integrated with a form for distribution, or is it just sent as a
separate file? And where do I find it?

I am running version 9 of Paradox under Windows 2000. "About Paradox"
says that it's "9.000.738". I have installed any downloadable updates
(has it been three?).

Runtime is an alternative build of each version of Paradox.. it runs all
your code (scripts, forms, reports, etc.) but does not allow interactive
access to Paradox itself.. it's almost, but not quite, as big and complex as
regular Paradox..

for Paradox 9, you need the Developer's Edition to get Runtime, plus a lot
of other stuff.. (yes, I sell it on my web site)..

You can see Runtime just like a normal Paradox install but with limited
functionality. It will runt forms, reports etc, but you can't do any design
work and you can't open tables directly.

So your customer need ot install the Runtime version which will include the
BDE. You then supply him with the forms, scripts and reports that you need
and preferably launch it with a custom shortcut.
