But, now, for some reason, the system with the new re-installation now gets very frequent GPFs in Paradox while other machines run fine. |

Now, when entering data on that form, we sometimes see a GPF, and sometimes, the screen goes blank. |

Might there be any files with non-Paradox extensions in the :work: or riv: of that machine?(Although I would expect you'd see issues on more than one form, if that were the case.) Yes, there are such files, but they are not on the machine with the problem. They are on our (peer to peer) server. Have you tried copying that form from a machine without issues to the one with issues? And any libraries that form uses, as well. Forms and libraries are on the server. Are you using other than 100% zoom on that form? No, no zoom... Does the form (or library, if used) use any external DLL calls or ActiveX controls? Neither... Have you tried using a delivered version of the form, or do you use source version of the form? If source, try the delivered version only. Problem has been with a delivered form. Though when other systems use the same form all is well for them. Finally, have you tried updating the VIDEO driver on that machine? Do you have a spare video card you could try? The video driver is newly installed, and is the most recent available. Other than these, I'm about out of idears. Maybe someone else can step up.... I very much appreciate your help on this... Moments ago I experimented again, and we still have the problem. Most recently, it generated the blank screen, then the GPF. Then, a dialog saying that pdoxwin32.exe had generated errors and would be closed by Windows. The dialog also said that a log was being created, but provided no name for the log. Next, I will probably un-install, and re-install, but before doing that, might you have any suggestion about finding the log? It might help me to sort this out. Sincere thanks as before, -- Kenneth If you email... Please remove the "SPAMLESS." |

I thank you for the suggestion, but the NIC drivers etc. are fine. |

I just reinstalled Windows 2000 Pro (and Paradox 9) on one of our systems. It runs the same BDE as does our other boxes: V 5.1.0.4. It has Local Share set to TRUE (as do other systems.) And its NETDIR entry reads Z:\NetFiles exactly as do all other systems. But, now, for some reason, the system with the new re-installation now gets very frequent GPFs in Paradox while other machines run fine. I read the piece including GPF information on the Paradox Community site, and based on that, ran Chimney Sweep on all of our tables (even though other systems had no trouble) but still we have the problem. What would be appropriate next steps? |

The default settings are too low IMO. And at least in the first versions of Paradox for Windows, they were a cause of GPVs. 2) As you are using P9, corrupted toolbar files can cause GPVs. Hi Bertil, Right now the setting is the default. What setting would you suggest I try? Sincere thanks, -- Kenneth If you email... Please remove the "SPAMLESS." |
