But seriously!

If Jan's Cat can read stuff in from one paradox database, and translate it
from Norwegian to English, then getting it from csv into another database
should be easy enough assuming the correct language drivers are in place,
and assuming that the text complies with csv standards.

Jan,

First, I would make sure that the tablename.* files are not read-only
(e.g. you got them off a CD). Paradox tables are comprised of many
files. The main file is the .DB file and there are other files with
the same name but different extensions (.PX, .MB, .VAL, etc.). Make
sure all of these are set to not read only.

If that's not it, then I don't have a clue.

Yes, Paradox the app can import natively to/from CSV. Memo fields
(those with more than 255 characters) are an exception, but there are
scripts you can get / make to do that.

I imagine there are lots of people who use Paradox the table format
without knowing anything about Paradox the application.

Hi Robert and all,

Sorry for the vague description.
The error message I get in DBC upon reimport says: "Cannot modify a read-only
dataset."

So Paradox itself can handle export/import to csv natively? I guess the reason
for the client supplying us with DBC is that they are not aware of the functionality.
Or are there any advantages of using a third party tool?

/Jan
