Default pdx-interbase/firebird - 10-10-2007 , 02:00 AM

pdx7, BDE 5.2 or BDE 5.1, firebird on a freeBSD server.
Problem: BDE 5.1 or 5.2 dont come with native driver (or "SQL links") for
interbase.
Any idea how to get this SQL link without installing Delphi?

Thanks

marco

Or you can install Firebird ODBC driver and connect using ODBC. The BDE
is not being updated at all, so a new version of Firebird may not work
with BDE SQL Links. It will if you use latest ODBC driver.

I use ODBC drivers for Firebird and MS SQL Server and, although people
say it's slower, it's fast enough for me and my users.

it would be interesting to compare speed. For a task which last 0.7 sec
instead of 0.3 nobody would notice but for something which last 10 sec.
I installed myOBDC but it would be difficult to ask a non expert to do that.
