Does anyone have a list of all folders that must have 'Full Control' in order to install Pdox 9 Runtime? I've got a client with Server2008 that has the security locked very tightly. Currently, it is squawking that the Windows\Fonts folder is trying to be updated. I'd like to give him 1 list of all folders he needs to (temporarily?) open up. TIA, Jim Moseley |

can't you "install as administrator", and "install for all users"? |

Steven, can't you "install as administrator", and "install for all users"? The IT guys want a list of every folder that will be updated. Jim Moseley |

Jim Moseley Hi Jim, If the "IT" guys were any good then they would use a tool which would provide them with this information. I mean why stop at folders, why not registry settings as well ?? How I do this is to install under Altiris before deciding whether it is safe or not. Altiris also provides you with a list of just about everything that gets modified , including registry keys. The advantage is that I do not need to bother anyone with such stupid requests and thats assuming you can identify the software creator. Leslie. |

At least some install media includes this information in a text format as part of the install package. I suspect you could find it for Paradox by looking at the files on the CD (or in the package if you're creating your own install). |

Reading a Rick Kelly Vista post, it seems this can be accomplised with a manifest file (his was for BDE). Am I on the right track? |

I have no idea. I've never had to do my own install package and our IT guys, who are very security conscious, recognize that installs ought to be done as a person with full rights to everything (if you want the app to work right). |

After one more go-round with the IT guys, they did try to run it as admin. But it failed. They're going to setup my own little sandbox in Server2008 to see if I can figure it out. I'll probably be back for more help then! ![]() |

They're probably using AD and have all kinds of group policies and what-not that even being a domain administrator won't override. |
