Default Paradox Version Question - 04-26-2006 , 01:51 PM

Hello,
I'm VERY new to Paradox.
I've been hired on to maintain a PDX system among a lot of other generic IT duties.

Here come the dumb questions:
1) Is Paradox version 11 the latest?
2) ODBC drivers for Paradox files. Is version 9 the latest?
3) Do I have to install the BDE on the server to allow access to the Paradox data via ODBC?

There will be more, but that's a start.
Thanks,
John

several companies make ODBC drivers.. the last Paradox *table* version is
7..

Yes, but don't assume that means it's the best and most stable.
There has been little new development since version 9, and
people give varying reports of what version runs best for them.
At our business, we're sticking with Paradox 9 SP4 and Paradox
9 Runtime SP3 because 10 and 11 just caused more problems for us.

Pretty much...

The ODBC drivers that come with any recent Paradox (9 should be fine) will
work fine with Access.

Not on the server... on the client. BDE and Paradox are not client/server
tools. Yes, you will need to install BDE to use the supplied drivers.
