you should *NEVER* try to open a live Paradox table like that.. Access does
not properly respect the BDE locking mechanisms.. always work with a copy of
the Paradox tables for this..

Hi,
I'm trying to open a paradox table as a linked table inside MS Access
2000. The problem is that the paradox files sit on a network drive and
are shared by the entire organization, so if anyone has this table
open, I get the dreaded "Could not lock table..." error message when
trying to open it in Access. are there any ways around this problem?
Thanks
