Download and install X-Chat from http://www.silverex.org/news/
Run X-Chat
Choose a handle (you actually have to specify 6 alternate possible handles)
Choose Add under networks, give it a name like EpikNet
Edit that network:
under server, edit that one entry, and make it say irc.epiknet.org/6667
Make sure 'Use global user information' is checked
Set Channels to join to #paradox
Click Close, then click connect.

It either works or it doesn't.

Alternately, you can use the applet on http://www.epiknet.org/chat/
It briefly hung my machine when I tried it yesterday, but YMMV.

1 - Type your nickname in "Votre pseudo"
2 - Go to the bottom of this page :"Un problème de connexion ?
Connectez-vous par IRC"
3 - Click on : Connectez-vous par IRC
4 - Then click on Lister les salons (quite left top of the page)
5 - Type "paradox" on the search part and Enter
6 - Then click on "Joindre"

Hm,
seems so irc.epiknet.org/6667 #paradox doesn't like me, it refuses the
connection (perhaps I should put on a tie <g>).
Is there any password needed?

Same with the French one, clicking on '... Connectez-vous par IRC' gets me
only to the information that the server isn't reachable.
Il faut que je parle français, peut-être ?

no, not unless you have someone elses registered nick. try a nick like
egg9876 as not too many people will have that.


if you are on this page, http://www.epiknet.org/

make sure that you go to options avancees
make sure you don't put the # in with the the paradox in the channel box

sometimes domains get blocked by these servers to cut out spam.

try instead of the default irc.epiknet.org server, the following :

colombes.fr.epiknet.org/6667

that is usually a reliable entry point

I would like join the chat,
but...
Well meanwhile the X-Chat as well as the applet open the window that shows
a havy working progress bar. It tells me, that it is looking for
irc.epknet.ort (195.225.204.225) Port 6667. But the connection is failes:
Error: Connection refused (cry... that's me, sniff).
I changed my nickname to eggibert (egg... no, bah, no egg) but no chance.
Now I'm back at my original one, probably as seldom as egg...., no chance.
Has anyone succeeded to enter?
The always important question: What has she/he that I don't have :-O)
