Default paradox 7 on xp - 10-24-2007 , 03:30 PM

Having my pc with W2K replaced with XP, I thought I'd reinstall paradox 7.
Noted the issues regarding disk size made the changes and the install went
ok. Set compatability to NT sp5.
When I right click on item from left panel ie table or query and make a selection
Paradox disappears from the screen.

Never seen this before. Unsure if paradox 7 I have is 16 or 32 bit. Tried
loading on an old box still running W2K and installed and worked normally
after setting compatability.

Any help appreciated.

George

BDE folder (7/32), or IDAPI folder (7/16)?

George - I am running Paradox 7 on XP Pro and have also run it on XP Home
previously. Works OK for me. Don't know if that helps or not.

I never have a problem, either.. is it ALL selections, or just specific
ones?

Stephen,

Still working at it. I'm begining to wonder if its file permissions. Paradox
was installed under my user logon with admin rights, and used default locations
in case of issues. Have uninstalled rebooted and reinstalled and still have
the same issue.

Well I'll kept working at it.

on XP, you need full rights to ALL necessary locations, many of which you
won't have unless you're the default "master" administrator.. besides all
the data location, you need the folder where the BDE is, and the registry..
and the net file can't be in the root of C..

Did you apply any patches? What BDE version do you use?

If you just installed from the original P7 CD you might need to run patches
for Paradox. You also probably want to upgrade to a more recent BDE version
than the one shiped on the CD.

Anders
