Default Paradox 3.5 Under Windows 2000XP - 01-28-2007 , 05:24 PM

Is such a thing possible? I prefer 3.5, but
Failing such attempts I tried to gen a new 4.5, but
received Msg.: missing ODAPI01.DLL, LD01.DLL, ODAPIQ01.DLL.

can anyone help?

paradox dos 3.5 should not be used under ANY version of Windows.. in
general, paradox dos 4.02 has a feature called "compatible mode" that will
usually run your 3.5 app as-is after a simple conversion/upgrade process..
see the 3x-to-4x doc on my web site, and the 4xguide doc.. but one point is
important.. paradox dos 4.02 and 4.5 will run fine under any version of
windows except 2000..

You /definitely/ want to get a current copy of Paradox for Windows!

Quite bluntly, there are no advantages to what you seek to do, over what you
could very matter-o-factly do by purchasing a recent WordPerfect Office
suite.

The Paradox for Windows system has evolved "very, very well." So, it will
prove to be fully backward-compatible with what you are looking at now,
while being fully cognizant of Win32 environments.

I disagree with nearly everything above.

Paradox for Windows and Paradox for DOS are NOT compatible - other than the
tables (likely). No forms, no reports, no libraries, no code are
transferable directly. It is nearly a character for character rewrite.
(some code is close enough to copy, but nothing in its entirety transferred
when I did this)

Moving from Paradox 3.5 to 4.02 or 4.5 maintains most code compatibility as
well as table - as Steve G. stated.

There are MANY advantages to what the OP is asking. But the end will
determine what his choices will mean.

Tony

Reading carefuly you would have noticed Albatross did try to use Paradox
for Windows 4.5

and by the "missing file" message, my assumption is that he tried to copy it
to the machine, not install it..
