Default ODBC Connection to MS SQL Server - 11-09-2006 , 11:38 AM

I am old MS Access user (I can feel your angry thoughts). For years I took
it for granted that I can link to an Oracle or MS SQL database with MS
Access. However, I now work in an environment dominated by Paradox users
who still store confidential data on their desktop systems. The director
of our IT department has told us that all data must be on a server, yet
none of the Paradox users know how to establish a link to an ODBC database-
not do I. Can you please direct me to a resource that can educate us how
to do this?

I did it quite easily a few years ago for MySQL. I do not remember all
the details but recall that I had to make sure that things were
properly set up in all of windows/control panel/administrative
tools/data sources, BDE and the Alias manager. A bit of fooling around
and learning but no real problems.

Are you sure your ODBC database actually has ODBC drivers installed?
With MySQL it took me a while to realize that while MySQL is capable of
ODBC compliance, it did not actually come ODBC compliant and I had to
download and install the ODBC module.
