Default Need table repair for 3.5 file format - 02-06-2006 , 12:50 PM

I'm guessing that 3.5 is DOS.
Where can I get a DOS Table Repair utility?
In house we have Paradox 5.0 and 9.0.
When I run the utility I get:
TUGetCRTTblDescCount
File or directory does not exist

The Paradox 3.5 /application/ is DOS, but the /tables/ are not.

Any table-repair utility can be used against those tables... ours, or the
built-in facilities of the Paradoxes that you have.

If yours isn't working, it isn't anything to do with 3.5 or DOS.

From within Paradox, I tried to copy the file from a floppy to my PC and got
this message:
Corrupt file - other than header
File A:\DYETEST.DB

The info below occurs when I tried Table Repair.
Table Repair works on other tables

what now?

some thoughts and questions:

where did that table come from?.. unfortunately, when it's potentially a
very old file, it just might be damaged beyond repair.. unlikely, but not
impossible..

why is it on a floppy?.. it's also possible that the copy on the floppy is
bad, but the source file could be fine..

bear in mind.. the repair tools are *not* guaranteed to fix every table,
every time..

Remember that a table consists of many files. For a basic repair attempt
copy only the .DB and .MB files, if they exist. Remove any other files of
the same name leaving only these two.

Then... have a go. If the repair-process included in Paradox for Windows
does not work at /that/ point, then I would say that it is most likely that
the table file contents are simply ... damaged.

This message, unfortunately, means many things. It's one of the most-used
and therefore most-cryptic messages out there. Sometimes it's bogus and
sometimes it's not. But a table, stripped down to just these two files, is
either "intact" or "not."
