Default Installing Pdox9 on XP Pro - 04-27-2007 , 06:15 PM

Installed Pdox9 on XP Pro notebook connected to a network and it installed
without any error msgs.

Upon starting Pdox9, I get two Pdox error msgs:

First I get Network Initialization Failed, Directory C\, File C:\PDOXUSERS.NET,
cannot access network lock file, continue with network disabled? Y / N.

Clicking Yes provides a second Pdox error msg: Could not initialize BDE,
Network initialization failed, Directory C:\, File: C:\PDOXUSERS.NET. Clicking
on the OK button stops the startup.

A network help person reinstalled Pdox9 plus all SP's 1, 2 & 3 that I provided)
that installed OK, but I still get the same two Pdox error msgs. when starting
Pdox9.

I don't want to share Pdox9 working files with anyone on the network; just
use it on my pc and print reports on a network printer.

I can't install Pdox9 on when my notebook is not connected to the network
b/c I need administrative rights to install any program.

Any suggestions would be appreciated,
Don

Don,

You just need to run the BDE Administrator (found in Control Panel) and
set the NET DIR (on the config tab, under Paradox) to a location other
than the root of C:\. It should be a dir to which you have full rights.

Liz,
Bingo!
That did it.
It's nice to see the Project Viewer again.
Now, to open a few files.
Thanks very much for your assistance,
Don
