Default How to edit Paradox database without WordPerfect? - 09-02-2007 , 06:27 AM

Hi everyone,

I need to batch update a column in Paradox but don't have Paradox. The
database was created in version 7 of Paradox. It came the software our
company bought many years ago. We can use the software to edit the records
one by one but this is not very practical as the table is large.

I have tried and failed with Access. Access only supports Paradox up to
version 5. Is there a way to batch update the data without having to buy the
WordPerfect suite? Also we are not sure if the current version is backward
compatible with version 7? Help is very much appreciated.

Regards, C

The table format has not changed. 5-7 is the same table format. All
versions of paradox the program (as opposed to the file format) and
access and many other programs support the paradox 5-7 table format. But
if you had P7 to create this in the first place why not just reinstall
P7. If it is the 32 bit version it will run in at least any Widows
version up to XP. If this 16 bit I'm not sure but probably it will too.
The current WPO pro suite version of Pdox will certainly have no trouble
with the table either.

I sell older versions of Paradox and the WP Suite on the web site..

if your copy of Access only works with Paradox 5, you copy of Access is
*VERY* old.. most modern platforms can read Paradox 7 tables..

Sorry, Should have had more coffee. 5 and 7 are not the same table
format. The rest is correct. You can access v7 tables with any version
of Pdox from 7 on and most versions of access, etc.
