Default FAM, PX, etc. - 03-16-2008 , 03:20 PM

On Paradox 7 I have a database for mailing labels named Main2 with about
400 records.
In the Working folder are files: Main2FAM, Main2PX, Main2 TV, Main2VAL.

I take DB to mean data base. What do FAM, PX, TV, VAL designate?

What do FAM, PX, TV, VAL designate?

px is the primary index (we call it the 'key')
val is the validity file, which holds info like lookup links, field
'picture' strings, etc

the fam (family) and tv (table view) files are things that occasionally were
used for interactive customization control in early pdoxwin versions..

And since this is part of my previously posted problem regarding missing
Family files, I'll ask: Do you know what causes a Family file to disappear
as it does (apparently) for me using P5? See my posting "could not find
family member" dated 3/14 for more. Thanks
