Hi, My laptop is set up to connect to the network with the BDE idapi.cfg including a common correct location for the .net file on the server. Away from the network this causes a 'can't connect to network .....' error and I select the option to continue with the network disabled. I have tried putting -o "C:\Program Files\Borland\Common Files\Bde\pandora.cfg" in the properties of a second startup shortcut, 'pandora.cfg' being a BDE configuration saved with C:\ as the location for the .net file I get the error message "BDE config filename is invalid. using default" I have tried putting just the filename, putting it into the startup directory, and various other fiddles. No luck. (I found enumEngineInfo which will give the cfg file used by inference on the .net file location) Any simple thing that I must do to make this work please? I have dug into past posts to the group but find nothing to help. ----- Anne Wainwright Please reply to group |

-o "C:\Program Files\Borland\Common Files\Bde\pandora.cfg" Are you sure you have specified the correct folder? On my machine, it's C:\Program Files\Common Files\Borland Shared\BDE |
| Are you sure the name is pandora.cfg? And not pandora.cfg.ini? In some versions of Paradox, the cfg file when saved got a .ini extension if .cfg wasn't registered under HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT. |

In my experience, the BDE cannot recover gracefully from not having the currently-set configuration file available.. BEFORE removing the laptop from the network, you must use the BDE Administrator to change the configuration file from the one on the network to the one on the laptop. |

Anne The -o configuration switch works for me (Paradox 11 from X3. Here is my command line "C:\Program Files\Paradox\Programs\pdxwin32.exe" -p "C:\priv" -w "c:\Program Files\Klova" -o "c:\Program Files\Klova\K LOVA 9.CFG" "C:\Program Files\Klova\APPLIC~1.FSL" The only difference is my net file location is C:\Program Files\Borland\Common Files\BDE Maybe Paradox and XP don't like you using the root of C or maybe you don't have write access. Rick XP don't like you using the root of C Definitely not. Do NOT use c: root as NETDIR, and not for anything else. -- Bertil Isberg - CTECH Paradox buglist: online: http://hem.bredband.net/bertilisberg/ "Rick Rans" <rick.rans (AT) canada (DOT) com> skrev i meddelandet news:45d38abb$1 (AT) pnews (DOT) thedbcommunity.com...
