Default Where is UI for Oracle? - 05-02-2010 , 09:41 PM

Last fall I downloaded and installed the latest freebie oracle database from
oracle. Unfortunately, I don't have the exact version number and the
notebook computer I installed it on is at work right now.

I had 3 or 4 problems:
(1) I could not find the uninstall procedure anywhere! Is this typical of
oracle? How do you remove oracle.
(2) I could not find a command line UI like sqlplus to try out some queries.
Do I have to download this seperately?
(3) What would be the jdbc (java) connection string and driver for
http://squirrel-sql.sourceforge.net/ to use with Oracle?
(4) What would be the connection string for manipulating the database with
perl?

I'm about to get a new notebook and install Oracle again. Can someone tell
me how to fix the old notebook and point me to a site where I can download a
freebie oracle for my new notebook computer that includes an uninstaller and
java and perl examples and a copy of sqlplus? If I reinstall oracle on the
old notebook, will it clobber (overwrite) the old installation?

Thanks,
Siegfried
