We're doing a product comparison for graphical query builders. Would
appreciate
your input on what you like (or don't).

We're an Oracle shop, but we need connectivity w/ any ODBC compliant
DB.
Also need query result export options (esp Excel), pivot capability,
printable results,
Windows compliant.

We don't need write capability, and if the tool has it, we need
to be able to turn it off. DB Admin tools not needed.

I've heard great things about AQT (Advanced Query Tool)... comments?

Thanks,
Carol

There are lots of options you might select. In the past we have used a
company with a product called Decision Centric, or Decision Analyzer,
which we used with Mainframe keyed files. This company is located near
Princeton, NJ.

FRX is a product designed for Financial Reports.

Crystal reports is another option I have seen used.

I have heard of a product called EZTrieve or some such thing.

We are using a product with IBM Unidata which basically builds views.
However, it is specifically for our Datatel Educational Package. Then we
use the IBM ODBC drivers and UIC editor to publish schemas and export
the views to Microsoft Excel and use Pivot Tables. I would recommend
the newer version of Microsoft Excel 2007. Excel using Microsoft query
which can also join the views.

There is a tendency to use Microsoft SQL Server, so you might look for a
graphical interface that uses that. It is fairly expensive.
