Default Oracle 10g Release 2 and Fedora Core - 05-27-2007 , 06:17 PM

I've downloaded Oracle 10 Release 2 Developer Suite. Has anyone
successfully installed this version on Fedora Core. I currently run
Fedora Core 6 as my primary OS and DS Release 2 refused to installed
indicating that it requires Red Hat 4 or 5. But isn't Fedora Core
technically Red Hat Linux with bleeding edge updates, that eventually go
into each release of Red Hat Linux.

Any information appreciated.

Thanks
Gerald

Isn't Vista essentially XP with bleeding edge updates? Installing
Oracle on an uncertified platform/release almost always involves a bit
of hacking and eventually some bug reporting. OS dependencies for OUI
are stored in ./install/oraparam.ini, under [Certified Versions]
section. You may try to add FC6 to the list or clear the Linux entry
for the purpose of getting past this check, but be prepared for
failures or erratic behavior further in the installation, or while
running DS products, though that's unlikely.

runInstaller -ignoreSysprerequisites will do the trick
Exact spelling can be checked by running runInstaller -help
