Default Connecting to database through Oracle Enterprise Manager - 04-09-2007 , 01:27 PM

I'm trying to connect to a db through Oracle Enterprise Manager. But
it can't seem to find my tnsnames.org file. It's looking for it in
the correct folder, but it doesn't see it. I'm not sure where to go
with this. The popup window message says that following...

"Failed to parse tnsnames.ora file
oracle.net.config.ServiceAliasException: 10"

I can't find any information on this. Please help!!

I'm using Oracle 10.2g

Does 'correct folder' mean $ORACLE_HOME/network/admin?

If it is not there then use NETCA to create one.

Yes, that is where it is located. The app is looking for it there,
and the tnsnames.ora file is located there.

But it is incorrect, otherwise there wouldn't have been an error.
If you edited it, back it up, and create a new one using netca or
netmgr.

1. Please don't top post.

2. Then I don't believe your interpretation of the error message
is correct. If the TNSNAMES file is there and that is where Oracle
is looking then something else is very wrong. ORACLE_SID, read
permissions, etc. Post the actual, complete, text of the error
message and your SQLNET trace.

If I could attach the screenshot, I would.

I've spoken with our DBA (who has been out of town until now) and she
states that she had not installed EM on the server, which would
explain why I couldn't use EM to launch a standalone, and since I
don't know the credentials to the management server... I'll wait
until tomorrow, since the day is almost shot anyway.

Thanks for the help guys!
