Default Ann: Altova announces FREE XMLSPY Home Edition and releases new version 2004r4 of XMLSPY, MAPFORCE, and STYLEVISION - 05-25-2004 , 12:29 PM

Altova (http://www.altova.com) producers of Altova XMLSPY, the world's
leading XML (eXtensible Mark-up Language) development environment, today
announced that the Home Edition of its award-winning XMLSPY product is now
being offered to the public through a FREE software license.

In addition, Altova just announced the immediate availability of Version
2004 Release 4 (v2004r4) of its entire product line.

Far more than a typical interim release, v2004r4 provides major enhancements
across the product line, ranging from advanced editing features and new data
integration capabilities to user interface improvements and new product
editions.

For more information on what's new in v2004r4 visit:

cost. After all, what could be more affordable than free?

As a special offer, customers who have purchased previous releases of XMLSPY
Home Edition will receive a 50% discount when they upgrade to XMLSPY

Wouldn't bother. Based on the userid, this is a brain-dead emailer.
Probably wouldn't even elicit an argument, never mind an apology.

I'd guess Altova don't really want people like us to look at the product,
otherwise they would have done the research necessary to define their user
base and find out the appropriate method of communicating with their
potential customers.

After all, they would have phrased the announcement as a request for
assistance, or they would have realized that many of us prefer such posts
go to comp.database.oracle.marketplace.

Aside from thinking that we may want to crisp up the charters to accomodate
the self-styled 'letter of the law' people, I'm getting pretty bored with
the entire announcement issues. I therefore express thanks to Daniel
Morgan for putting in the effort necessary, as his opinion (if not the
actual wording) is similar to mine.

Shame really - XMLSpy is the best known (to me) XML editor going, and
I have to confess to downloading the HOME version on the strength of
this SPAM posting. (

Still, I have managed to break it already - working through their own
tutorial )

Maybe there is a god after all.

Cheers,
Norman.
